I'm Taking Flight - First Stop North Bay!!!
Hello to all,
On June 30 I am embarking on my “Wild Wild West” tour to explore this vast and beautiful country. As I travel through Canada I would love to connect with any of your friends or family who would be willing to take in a total stranger for an evening or two? And if the stars align, this northern Ontario girl would be honoured if they were willing to show me around their city, town – in essence “Their Backyard Canada”. It also may be a little selfish on my part but, a real bathroom and bed would be a welcome comfort along the way. Please feel free to give them my coordinates and have them contact me if there are any interested parties - we may want to coordinate an phone introduction in advance. I will also have unlimited phone & text access across Canada if you wish to call (same phone no.) - note I may not always be in your timezone or available!
July 1 - 6th The first leg of the journey starts with a visit with the local “pterodactyl” that lives around Nosbonsing Lake …. OK it’s only a Blue Heron but I swear when the early morning mist is rising on the lake and you see this huge bird with a giant wing span coming at you… Well you get the picture, it sort of looks like a prehistoric bird! So pterodactyl as she is fondly referred to makes her home in a little bay where my Friend Brenda's home is nestled in East Ferris ON, and where my epic “Wild Wild West” tour begins!
With my friend Brenda, I start this journey by embarking on a historic canoe route from the mouth of the Mattawa River to where she meets the Ottawa River. Brenda and I will be launching our Kayaks at the mouth of the Mattawa River and pray that wind and weather are with us as we explore this historic canoe route. AND, for my all my “mom’s” reading this, YES we have an escape plan if I can’t make the entire route. Upon our return I’ll take a day to rest my bruised and battered body and then begin the treck across Canada.
Some of you, who are more astute geographically and/or historically, may have noted that I’m starting my “Wild Wild West” tour heading EAST! Go figure!
